THE FINAL DRAFT DUE DATE HAS CHANGED TO MAY 15, 2009 AT THE END OF THE HOUR! “We Didn’t Start the Fire” Research Report Research is an essential skill, and this project will count for a large part of your grade. Due to the magnitude of this project, parts will be counted as class work grades, others as homework grades and the final paper as a test grade. Failure to complete this paper will potentially result in a greatly reduced grade and possible failure in the 4th quarter. Class time will be allotted to work on the project, but it is expected that you will work at home on these papers and utilize the Apache Junction Library (or others) in achieving success on your paper. Much of the paper will be broken down into pieces with specific due dates that you must manage. This will help keep you focused and working towards your end goal and provide you opportunities to receive points at various stages of the paper as well as your final grade at the end of the project. The following will be required: · 2-3 pages in length (not including the works cited page) · A works cited page · MLA Format · Show evidence of research · Reflect the qualities of the Six Traits of Writing · A minimum of three sources Students are expected to take notes and use note cards (index cards) during the research process. Your student will need to bring at least 20 note cards to class. I expect all students to work to the best of their abilities and take advantage of given opportunities for success! You must cite carefully, because ANY AND ALL FORMS OF PLAGIARISM WILL RESULT IN A ZERO! TIMELINE FOR DUE DATES All due dates are subject to change. · This contract due Wednesday April 15 · Topics due Tuesday April 21 · Scaffold packet due Thursday April 30 · Rough draft due Thursday May 7 · Final due Thursday May 14 * Please note that the rough draft and final copy will be typed in class.
