Course Description

1.Basic Math Number Sense:

A. Order of Operations including Adding and Subtracting Whole Numbers and Decimals 1M-C2-06-P15X.

B. Multiplying 1M-C2-05-P03X

    1. Dividing 1M-C2-05-P04X

  1. Fractions:

    A. Adding 1M-C1-06-P03X

    B.Subtracting 1M-C2-05-P03X

Student performance objectives and compentencies

Students will determine solutions to situations requiring thinking skills and will

be expected to justify those solutions. They will learn problem solving skills which

will ensure success on future AIMS testing mandated by the State.Upon exiting this

class students will be prepared for Algebra.

Students in this class are required to attend 6th hour Extended Learninng sessions in

order to help remediate their math skills and give them more time to learn the outlined

objectives. Remediation will take plac in small groups through teacher, peers, and soft-

ware instruction.


Tests and Homework

Tests will be given at least once a week with homework and class work assigned every-

day.All homework will be due the following class day. If homework is not completed

for the following class day, the student will serve detention the following day.


Make-up

If the student has an excused absence,she/he will have the same number of days absent

to make up the work. NO make-up work from an unexcused absence will be accep-

ted.


Tutoring/Extra help

Tutoring is required for students who are not passing proficiency tests..Tutoring is each

Wednesday after school from 2:15-3:05. If students need extra help with anything I will be available from 2:15-3:00 as my schedule permits. Please schedule an appointment in advance, and parent permission is needed.


Materials needed

Student must have a spiral note book ( to be used as a daily planner for objectives and

homework assignments),pens,pencils, stamp sheet,extra paper and text book. Text books must be covered at all times. Book covers are sold in book store or student may make covers of their own. Students will be fined for damaging or defacing books in anyway.

If a student doesn’t understand the assignment,they should not leave

the classroom until I make it clear. I will be happy to give student a pass for the next class.


All work must have a standard heading in the upper right hand corner.

Backpack policy

Please DO NOT bring your backpack into the classroom.If so you will be asked to take it to youe locker,and if you are late returning to class, you will receive a tardy.


Team Rules:

1.Be in seat with all needed materials when the bell rings.

2. Don’t talk without permission

3. Work quietly without disturbing others.

4. Follow directions.

5. Follow all school rules.

6. Treat everyone with consideration and respect.


Grades are assigned as follows:

90%-100% = A

80% -89% = B

70% - 79% =C

60%- 69% =D

59% - 0%= F

Grades are based on Tests, Class Participation, Homework,Projects, Classwork,

and Journal.
